Savanha Construction together with the Hoedspruit Khamai Reptile Park and the Southern Cross Schools are to implement a procedure to protect the Brown Baboon Spider. This will be done by the Southern Cross Schools for all construction and development projects done by Savanha Constrcution in the Hoedspruit region.
Here find pictures of some work done on one of our Moditlo projects. You can also see the technique that was put together by the Reptile Park to do this function. What's even better is that the kids from the Southern Cross Schools are currently in training to become proficient in this process.

Information We Need to Record at the Golden Brown Baboon Spider Burrow (A note, spiders prefer not to be moved so if at all possible Savanaha Construction will try and build around the burrows):
1. Date of moving of spider
2. Location of spider recorded
3. GPS co-ordinates of burrow taken
4. Current Temperature (Celcius)
5. Wind Speed (km/hr)
6. Humidity (%)
7. Altitude (meters above sea level)
Soil samples will need to be taken from the entrance of the burrow plus another from the base of the burrow (this will not be done by me :)), I'm afraid someone else will need to stick their hands down this hole...
Should the spider be removed from this burrow and relocated a mold will be taken of the burrow so that this can be replicated at the new site.
As you know, we're all open for ideas and any initiatives that could help us provide better protection for our environment and assist us in protecting our country for our kids, please feel free to contact us at Savanha Construction.
